An exceptional theater performance titled "The Earth Remembers" will take place at the amphitheater in Trenčianske Teplice, a project by the Slovak Chamber Theater in Martin. It is a musical biography of one of the most prominent figures in Slovak popular music – Karol Duchoň, directed by the renowned Czech director Jiří Havelka.

The production was created based on authentic personal testimonies from Duchoň's closest family, colleagues, and friends, as well as significant figures from the Slovak and Czech music scenes. The creators drew from the narratives of Elena Duchoňová, Ľudo Kuruc, Pavol Ribarič, Štefan Jurík, and also Dušan Grún, Eva Máziková, Marcela Laiferová, Karel Gott, Boris Filan, and Peter Hanzely. An important source was also the book by Roman Slušný - Karol Duchoň: The Man with a Big Heart.

The performance offers a deeper insight into the life of a man who became a legend but also bore the burden of sudden fame. Paradoxically, Karol Duchoň is often perceived as an older generation singer than the icons of the bands Elán, Modus, or Collegium Musicum, even though he was actually their contemporary. His mature expression and intense lifestyle gave him the aura of an older artist – a person who lived fast, fully, and with great emotionality.

The production does not shy away from the darker sides of Duchoň's life, but alcohol is not sensationalized here; it is a consequence of the pressure of fame that the young talent from a simple rural background could not cope with. "The Earth Remembers" is not just a memory of the past – it is proof that Karol Duchoň belongs to the present as well. His songs are returning to the radio, new cover versions are being created, and they are reaching even the youngest generation of listeners.

In this performance, Karol Duchoň comes to the stage as a strong dramatic character – a flesh-and-blood person, a singer with a powerful voice, but also a man with a big heart. Under the open sky of the amphitheater in Trenčianske Teplice, his story takes on a new dimension and exceptional atmosphere.
