Zbojník a Gašparko

A co-production project with the Czech Theater Drak on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia.

Czechoslovakia dissolved 30 years ago. However, the end of the joint state did not mean the end of the closeness of the two nations; on the contrary. When crossing the national border, we do not feel like we're in a foreign land, and we gladly call Czechs our brothers. From this warm friendship, an exceptional co-production performance was born in collaboration with the Theater Drak from Hradec Králové. Czech and Slovak actors will meet on stage to create a genuine and authentic, original Czechoslovak performance. But where to start? Who represents our specific national characters and how to unite them into one whole? The brave Jánošík comes to the rescue for the Slovak side and the eloquent Gašparko for the Czech side. The combination of two irreconcilable natures leads to experiences in the high Slovak mountains and the romantic Czech groves. But where is the whole story heading? And does it meet the expectations and ideas of either side? The puppet-acting performance is a metaphor for living in one entity. Can we make compromises in the interest of common goals? But what are we actually like? And how do we perceive others? And is there even such a thing as national character?
