Workshop pre deti: Vidieť svet inak

What can we discover if we look at things differently? For children, we have prepared a workshop based on a new book by illustrator Hedka M. Gutierrez. The picture book "Stone Oto" is a story about courage, friendship, and the fact that everyone has their unique path.

The book is about a little pebble, ordinary, or some might say mundane, yet exceptional! Oto lived in a cave with a bunch of relatives but somehow didn’t fit in.

"Stones are strong! Gray, rough!" they told him. Even though Oto tried to fit in, he just couldn't. He was simply different. "You should eat more! You should try harder! Stones don’t cry!" they advised him. But as it often is, well-meaning advice didn’t help – sadness and feelings of difference only deepened.

What eventually happens with Stone Oto will be revealed in the workshop, where we will create magical glasses that will help us see the world more colorful, or we will draw our own hero. Strong as a rock, with a heart of gold!

Hedviga M. Gutierrez

is primarily engaged in book and editorial illustration for children, but also for adults. She bases her illustration on digital media, while drawing inspiration from classical drawing and craft graphics. She also focuses on product and advertising illustration. She has several awards to her name, such as the Most Beautiful Children's Book of Spring 2021: "The Witch Babies Swung", the Most Beautiful Book of Slovakia 2018: "BABAJAGA", and the Prize of the Slovak National Library, Bibiana - House of Art for Children, Bratislava, 2018.
