Description of the Performance

The brilliant comedy The Merry Wives of Windsor by the great William Shakespeare demonstrates that a story from the time of Queen Elizabeth could very well be an episode from the present – after all, there are still loafers, schemers, jealous ones, and philanderers among us.

Chairman Falstaff selfishly decides to win the favor of two high-ranking ladies – Mrs. Page and Mrs. Ford. Mrs. Ford's husband is very jealous and addresses the situation with his own methods. However, the clever ladies from Windsor prove to everyone that even a high-ranking person cannot afford anything, and the truth will eventually come out.

Everything that the audience sees in the play could happen today among us. Without unnecessary modernization of the story, some may recognize in Falstaff's actions the methods of contemporary politicians, while others will discover that even though times change, humanity remains fundamentally the same.

The unusual historical costumes have a timeless quality – they remind us of the period in which the play was written, yet they also display clear outlines of contemporary fashion, which speaks to the relevance of the theme.
