Production Description

The brilliant comedy The Merry Wives of Windsor by the great William Shakespeare shows that a story from the time of Queen Elizabeth could easily be an episode from the present – after all, we still have slackers, schemers, jealous individuals, and philanderers among us.

Chairman Falstaff selfishly decides to win the favor of two high-ranking ladies – Mrs. Page and Mrs. Ford. Mrs. Ford's husband is very jealous and addresses the situation using his own methods. However, the clever ladies from Windsor prove to everyone that even a high-ranking individual cannot afford just anything, and the truth will eventually come to light.

Everything that the audience sees in the play could happen today. Without unnecessary modernizing of the story, some may recognize in Falstaff's actions the methods of contemporary politicians, while others will realize that even though the times change, humanity remains fundamentally the same.

The unusual historicizing costumes have a timeless quality – they remind us of the period in which the play was written, yet they also showcase clear outlines of contemporary fashion, highlighting the relevance of the theme.
