Description of the performance

The brilliant comedy "The Merry Wives of Windsor" by the great William Shakespeare proves that a story from the time of Queen Elizabeth could very well be an episode from the present day – for there are still slackers, schemers, jealous people, and philanderers among us.

Sir John Falstaff selfishly decides to win the favor of two high-ranking ladies – Mrs. Page and Mrs. Ford. Mrs. Ford's husband is very jealous and deals with the situation in his own way. However, the clever ladies of Windsor show that even a high-ranking person cannot afford anything, and the truth will eventually come to light.

Everything the audience sees in the play could happen today among us. Without unnecessary modernization of the story, some may recognize in Falstaff’s actions the methods of contemporary politicians, while others will realize that even though the times change, humanity remains fundamentally the same.

The unusual historical costumes have a timeless quality – they remind us of the period in which the play was written, yet they also display clear contours of contemporary fashion, underscoring the relevance of the theme.
