Description of the Performance

The brilliant comedy "The Merry Wives of Windsor" by the great William Shakespeare proves that a story from the time of Queen Elizabeth could well be an episode from contemporary times – for there are still slackers, schemers, jealous ones, and philanderers among us.

Chairman Falstaff selfishly decides to win the favor of two high-ranking ladies – Mrs. Page and Mrs. Ford. Mrs. Ford’s husband is very jealous and resolves the situation in his own ways. However, the clever ladies from Windsor show that even a high-ranking person cannot afford anything, and the truth will eventually come to light.

Everything that the audience sees in the play can happen today among us. Without unnecessary modernization of the story, one might recognize in Falstaff's actions the methods of contemporary politicians, while others will realize that even though times change, humanity remains fundamentally the same.

The unusual historical costumes appear timeless – they remind us of the period in which the play was written, but at the same time, we can observe clear outlines of contemporary fashion, which points to the relevance of the theme.
