Tomáš Forró v Trnave

We invite you to a discussion with journalist Tomáš Forró and the presentation of his new book The Sirens' Song – together we will embark on a monumental journey into the heart of the Ukrainian conflict.

Tomáš Forró works along the entire length of the front line, in bombed cities, among soldiers in trenches, and with starving civilians reliant on humanitarian aid. Gradually, he transformed from a journalist into a humanitarian volunteer and later – into a direct participant in combat operations.

His new reportage book The Sirens' Song is a painfully honest probe into the world beyond our eastern borders. It brings previously unknown events and information that reveal the course of the war in Ukraine from a completely new perspective – unfiltered, without pathos and the myths that surround it.

Tomáš Forró is an independent reporter focusing on conflicts and crisis areas around the world. As a reporter, he has worked in Poland, Latin America, and the Ukrainian Donbas. His series of reports from Latin America has won three journalism awards.

The book Donbas – Wedding Suite at War Hotel, which captures the dramatic lives of actors on both sides of the front line, has been released in several translations and reprints and was nominated for the Tatra Bank Art Foundation Award. In his texts, Forró demonstrates that the fates of seemingly peripheral regions on the other side of the planet convey an important message to us as well.
