The lecture-discussion cycle will take a closer look at what lies behind the most notable rap lyrics in the history of the Slovak music scene. The lecture will be guided by local DJ and music-technology enthusiast Viktor Drábek a.k.a. VKTRD.

In the upcoming "music window," we will focus on Slovak rap, specifically on the lyrics of MCs and the development from the 1990s to the present day.

The guest of the Brief Theory of Slovak Rap Lyrics will be rapper, lyricist, and legend of the Slovak scene Tono S., who will share his perspective on writing, language, and the evolution of the genre in the local context.

We will discuss formal elements, stylistics, and expression in the lyrics, as well as how they reflect social changes, local identity, and generational attitudes.

We will not overlook the question of authenticity, poetics, and wordplay, which form the basis of Slovak rap lyrics.

VIKTOR DRÁBEK a.k.a. VKTRD

DJ, producer, and promoter from Trnava, who regularly contributes to the local culture through club events. He has been involved in music production for fifteen years. He primarily plays from vinyl and prefers using analog machines. Professionally, he teaches DJing at a music school, and is involved in video production, sound engineering, sound design, while personally being a big enthusiast of various music media and technological gadgets.
