Stražanovo bábkové divadlo: „Gašparko a drak“

Live fairy tale on strings – the family legacy of puppeteers – the Stražan couple since 1878.

Unique Slovak puppets come to life in a story about how Gašparko and a prince go to rescue a princess from an evil dragon. During the performance, Gašparko communicates with the children and engages them in the story. The voices for the puppets were lent by Jozef Króner, Marián Zednikovič, Zoro Laurinc, Ladislav Stražan Sr., and Hana Gajdošová.

From a fairy tale chest full of threads, wood, and cheerful stories, the puppets of the Stražan family come to the stage! For more than 140 years, they have been spreading joy to children and adults and bringing classic fairy tales to life with beautiful marionettes. Ladislav Stražan Jr. continues the tradition of his ancestors, and together with his wife, brings a theater full of laughter, magic, and unforgettable characters. Marionettes made from linden wood, nearly as tall as a school backpack, will bring stories to life with the voices of legendary actors like Jozef Króner, Zuzana Krónerová, and Michal Dočolomanský.

Visitors to the performance will also have the chance to view the exhibition on old toys “When toys tell stories… silent witnesses of time”, part of which is dedicated to puppet theater. Račiansky Museum Society has prepared photographs and puppets of significant Slovak puppeteers, of which the Stražan family from Rača is an inseparable part. The exhibition at the Red Press will be open on the day of the performance from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
