Estrádna sála - Színházterem
The world satirist and humorist, writer Ephraim Kishon was born in Budapest, Hungary under the name Ferenc Hoffmann (August 23, 1924). Since 1949 he lived in Israel and changed his name, under which he is known worldwide (he wrote about 50 works and they have been translated into more than 35 languages). In 1981, he moved to Switzerland and lived there until his death in 2005.
After 1989, his books and plays began to appear in Czechoslovakia as well. The play "Marriage Certificate" is set in the environment of an ordinary family that left a kibbutz sometime in the second half of the 20th century. The man works and is proud that he earns enough for his wife not to have to work. That's how it should be. They have a daughter ready for marriage. She has a suitor, a mama's boy. The whole life of adult Robert is controlled by his mother, from the contents of his pockets to the wedding; everything must be a hundred percent in order. There is a problem with the bride's parents' marriage certificate, which has been lost. A multitude of funny situations arises between the elderly couple, long-held wishes and dreams resurface, confronted with reality. E. Kishon masterfully unravels the plot and again skillfully entangles it. The audience will be entertained and surprised by the twists in the fate of a family that until then seemed so mundane and stereotypical. A multitude of comic situations arises that provoke thought. We seek an answer to the question: Would we marry our partner again after twenty years of living together?
