About the Sendreiovci le Orchestroha project

The Sendreiovci le Orchestroha project brings together 35 concert masters of the State Chamber Orchestra Žilina with 6 renowned musicians from Sendreiovci, led by the unique vocalist Jana Sendreiová.

The Sendreiovci le Orchestroha project, conceived by the Association for Culture, Education, and Communication (ACEC), was created in connection with the idea of the Roma Spirit Award to draw attention to the importance of recognizing the inherent dignity and equal and inalienable rights of all people, regardless of their nationality or ethnicity.

The combination of the liveliness of Romani folklore and the uncompromising and thorough nature of classical music, by arranging selected pieces of Romani folklore into orchestral form, is a unique undertaking not only at home but also abroad. The collaboration of nearly 40 musicians on one stage creates an absolutely unique musical experience.

The project was first presented in the summer of 2015 at the largest Slovak music festival, Pohoda, where it gained great favor and response from the audience. In the Sendreiovci Le Orchestroha program, composer, producer, director, arranger, violist, and conductor Slavomír Solovic connected Romani songs performed by Sendreiovci with original orchestral music. Fans could listen to the work for the first time on July 11, 2015, at the Trenčín festival Pohoda, where the native of Žilina also appeared as a conductor.
