Prežili sme holokaust

There are still people among us who survived the Holocaust, and we can hear their story firsthand, see them, perceive them as individuals, and feel their experiences. That is why we are organizing the event "We Survived the Holocaust," especially for today's young people, who are the last generation that can meet them, and that is incredibly precious.

The story of a Holocaust survivor

The story of Assoc. Prof. Denisa Nikodémová, who experienced hiding in lodges, a mother who cried constantly and the farewell with her, hiding with the Peller family in Spišská Nová Ves in an attic with her sister, several days with rats in a cellar, the identification of her mother in a mass grave, and also her father's return from the concentration camp. Despite everything, she became a successful woman and today, at an advanced age, she is also active in educating the next generation at the university. The program may also include other witnesses from the area.

The film "Mommy" by Dagmar Mozolová

Dagmar Mozolová spent 10 years preparing the radio show "Encyclopedia of the Righteous," for which she received the Crystal Wing award. She began recording the stories of survivors and rescuers on camera, and in 2019, a month before her death, she visited then 96-year-old Zuzana Dermeková, who saved a two-year-old girl as a young single woman. She processed her story into a 26-minute film, which is part of the program.

A moderated storytelling of memories from the Holocaust is complemented by sensitive and deep songs performed by our first Superstar Katka Koščová and Daniel Špiner.
