An adventurous puppet classic about a hidden hero.
Tom Thumb? The ugly duckling among people. And among Slovaks. Dobšinský's cult story about a filthy lazybones and his transformation into "the biggest in the world." How is it possible that he becomes a star of the country, saving a princess even from a black sorcerer and his unlimited power, when he was initially a source of shame for his family? Tom Thumb is a mystery. Or maybe not? Perhaps he just didn't believe in himself and no one believed in him. An adventurous puppet performance about the perspective of oneself and others, about self-confidence, pride, and distorted mirrors.
Slovak classic has been taken on by creators from the legendary Czech theater Buchty a loutky. Unconventionally, with humor and courage, they combined two versions of this story: Tom Thumb the ugly face and Tom Thumb the biggest in the world.
