We invite you to the Book Galaxy with Juraj Červenák, who has written over forty books, primarily in the genre of historical fantasy from the times of the ancient Slavs (series Black Wizard, Hero, Bivoj), from the Bronze Age (Bronze Axe, Golden Fleece), as well as the historical-adventure series about the anti-Turkish wars Adventures of Captain Báthory (the latest installment is titled The Western Wall).
His most successful work includes historical detective novels about Captain Stein and Notary Barbarič, who investigate crimes during the reign of Emperor Rudolf II (Dead on Hell Mountain, Blood of the Firstborn, and others, the latest installment released under the title The Cursed Book). He also encountered great acclaim with the adventure novel from the 19th century The Cursed Monastery, which kicked off the Dragon's Treasures cycle. For his work, Červenák has received several awards, including three SF/F/H Academy Awards for Book of the Year and the Vladimir Neff Prize for Best Czech/Slovak Historical Novel for the book Devil in the Mirror. His books are also published in Czech, Polish, Ukrainian, and English.
The Book Galaxy will be hosted by Rudi Rus.
About the book Golden Chest
The adventure they experienced in the cursed monastery left a mark on them. They would most like to forget the bloodshed. However, when Adam Šarkan and Zuzka Kráľovičová join Pavol Dobšinský on another expedition for folk legends, darkness will once again invade their lives. Capturing a cruel murderer triggers a chain of events that forces Šarkan to reach for a weapon and awaken the instincts of a hunter.
Meanwhile, several remarkable foreigners are arriving in Gemer. A Sikul nobleman, his mysterious aide from the Mexican war, and a Turkish scholar are on the trail of another treasure following a groundbreaking archaeological discovery in the lower Danube. This treasure could allegedly awaken forces beyond human understanding and change the face of the world. The paths of both groups will soon intersect.
In the second part of the Dragon's Treasures cycle, a mysterious story once again intertwines with an almost western adventure set in Hungary in the second half of the 19th century.
“Adventurers, gunslingers, treasure seekers, explorers on expeditions to unknown lands. Those were the heroes of the books and movies I devoured as a child. These loves have not rusted, so today I'm fulfilling ancient dreams as I create stories in a similar spirit. The adventures of Adam Šarkan, Pavol Dobšinský, and Zuzka Kráľovičová are dear to my heart, a wild mix of western, fantasy, and period crime, history, and fairy tales. Moreover, in the Golden Chest, Šarkan's team seeks a treasure that belongs to the most famous in these parts and is often associated with the territory of Slovakia. The grave of a legendary tyrant, shrouded in eerie legends and hiding unheard-of riches. It was about time that someone found it. At least in a book story.”
