The next continuation of the film screening from the HoryZonty festival archive will be dedicated to water adventures, river rafting, and fascinating stories from the kayaking environment. The film projection will be combined with a discussion with traveler, tourist guide, and kayaking adventurer from Beckov - Peter "Becko" Ondrejovič.

Film screening:

The Great Canyon

Directed by: Pavol Barabáš / Slovakia / 2023 / 63 minutes /

Three enormous wild rivers of the world: Brahmaputra, Karnali, Colorado. The latter is a place where rapids reveal the ancient past of the Earth, where memories of the person who awoke in us a passion for rafting on great rivers emerge from the foamy waters.

The film was presented at the festival in 2023 and was among the most successful films of the 18th edition.

Guest of the evening:

Peter "Becko" Ondrejovič

Writing briefly about Becko is a challenge, but we'll try :-)

Throughout the 80s, he dedicated himself intensely and successfully to mountaineering until, in 1993, he left performance climbing due to the consequences of a fall from a height of 35 meters on the wall of Vtáčnik. A year after his injury, he organized the first expedition to the tabletop mountains in Venezuela, and shortly after, he embarked on a long journey through Australia, the Indonesian islands, and Malaysia to Thailand. Subsequently, he organized other valuable expeditions to tabletop mountains - in 1997, he made the first crossing of the vast massif of Auyán Tepuí with the descent of the world's highest waterfall, Salto Angel (979 m); a year later, on the same tabletop mountain, he completed the first complete traverse of the virgin Devil's Canyon. In 2004, the captivating film "Amazonia Vertical" by Pavol Barabáš was shot in the fascinating world of tabletop mountains. Among Becko's travel highlights is the "OMO Expedition," where a captivating documentary about the challenging journey down the wild river to indigenous tribal communities was filmed with the help of Pavol Barabáš' filmmaking art. He subsequently undertook expeditions to West Papua to natural Kombaj and to the Amazonian Yanomami, along with three more returns to the disappearing world of Old Africa on the Omo River. Currently, he shares his experiences with other enthusiasts and, through his travel agency, Anakonda Tour, organizes sightseeing trips to the most beautiful corners of the world. He presents his travel experiences interestingly and with a unique sense of humor at festivals and discussions. The interest in Becko's presentations confirms that he is not only a skilled traveler but also a storyteller.

For the kayaking special program, Becko will also contribute by sharing stories about the adventures awaiting us in our regions. He will surely convince us that there is no boredom even on the Váh river, and even on an ordinary Slovak river, one can experience a sea of adventures. Becko also facilitates rafting on the Váh in sports boats around Beckov, from Trenčín to Piešťany, while his fleet offers the legendary raft "Blue Hippo," which he used on the African Omo River.
