An evening dedicated to the memory of a significant Slovak representative in alpinism and an extraordinary person – Ondrej Húserka, who we will remember through the documentary films of Rastislav Hatiar and the stories of his friends both on the rope and in life – Martin Krasňanský and Gabriel Čmárik. The evening will be hosted by the Trenčín mountaineer Jaroslav Dutka. 

Program of the evening: 

Screening of films by Rastislav Hatiar, where we will recall Ondrej's successful expeditions in Patagonia (Desmochada) and Kyrgyzstan (Summer Bouquet). 

Discussion with climbers Martin Krasňanský and Gabriel Čmárik, who shared both a love for the mountains and a close relationship with Ondrej Húserka. 

Ondrej Húserka 

A young climber from Nemšová near Trenčín, who was one of the most significant Slovak climbers. Since 2011, he had been part of the Slovak national team in alpinism. He received several awards from SHS James for the best climbs of the year. He ascended a large number of difficult routes not only in the Tatras but also in the Mont Blanc area, the Dolomites, the Pamirs, the Himalayas, and Patagonia. Tragically, he died while descending from the Langtang Lirung mountain in the Himalayas on October 31, 2024. 

Ondrej’s climbing achievements, which included challenging ascents in various corners of the world, are just one of his legacies. He was not only an outstanding climber but also a good person and a great friend. Therefore, there are many reasons why he is missed by so many. 

During the discussion, we do not aim to focus on the details of the tragedy that deeply affected all who knew him. We believe that the entire evening will be a dignified tribute to a person who managed to leave a significant mark in the history of Slovak alpinism at a young age, characterized by friendliness, modesty, and an unforgettable smile.

Martin Krasňanský – Chairman of the Alpinism Commission of the Slovak Mountaineering Association James, a climber with 25 years of climbing experience in England, the Alps, Patagonia, Yosemite, Pakistan, Greenland, India, Madagascar, and especially in the Tatras. He is the creator of the podcast "Za skalami," where he presents many interesting personalities from the Slovak climbing scene, with whom he has met several times, including Ondrej Húserka. 

Gabriel Čmárik – alpinist, whose handwriting we find mainly in the highest peaks of the world, in the Himalayas. Since he started climbing in 1996 at his home Skalka near Trenčín, he has gradually made his mark in the Tatras, the Alps, Patagonia, Yosemite, Pakistan, Nepal, and Greenland.
