Klubové kino: HoryZonty – bežecký špeciál

The evening is called inspirational. This accurately describes the running life of Stanislav Ďuriga, who has completed over 200 marathons, several of which he ran in various unusual locations, such as on the tower of Trenčín Castle. In addition to a discussion with him, you can look forward to a screening of the film KarakoRun about the extraordinary challenge of a Polish runner who was the first to attempt to run 1000 kilometers along the three highest mountain ranges in the world to help children with cancer treatment.

Guest of the evening:

Stanislav Ďuriga – a running legend from Trenčín, marathon runner, ultramarathon runner, and chapel builder

“The path you walk or run can be chosen by you!”

Stanislav Ďuriga is an experienced marathon runner from Trenčín who has been running for over 45 years. Throughout his career, he has completed more than 200 marathons, and his passion for running has also led him to participate in many extreme races, including 100-kilometer ultramarathons and six-hour and twelve-hour runs. “I run as long as I can,” says the runner, who is also known for his unusual challenges, such as completing his own symbolic Stations of the Cross - 14 marathons in 14 days during the pandemic. He is also known for his marathon with 927 laps on Matúš's Tower of Trenčín Castle, which he completed on the occasion of his round 60th birthday in 2021. Among his quirky feats are marathons around his greenhouse, swimming pool, or on a farm.

However, the story of Stanislav Ďuriga is not only about physical endurance and the continuous search for new challenges in diverse running routes. Inspired by his experiences from marathons near sacred sites, where he always felt a sense of peace, he decided to create his own place of reflection and tranquility - a runner's chapel. He built it himself above Zlatovce in the forested area of Vinohrady, using stones from places he visited during his runs, including Paris, Croatia, and local locations.

There are many proofs of Stanislav Ďuriga's ability to go beyond the ordinary. If you want to learn more about his stories, don’t miss the discussion with him. You might also find your own, new, and not entirely ordinary running, or non-running, goal. “Find your hill and you will be happy,” wrote Stanislav Ďuriga in his book Running is My Journey, and we believe that there is such a hill for everyone. You just have to find it;)
