He is not only a singer-songwriter but also a poet with a refined sense of humor and irony, as well as a musician with a feeling for unforgettable melody and pointed harmony.

Karel Plíhal has long since become synonymous with Czech folk songwriting. He has been active on the scene for four decades. His first solo performance was in 1983. Between 1985 and 1993, he collaborated with Emil Pospíšil, and from 1995 to 1999, he was accompanied by Petr Freund. He has won the competitive music festival Porta four times. He has also composed several stage compositions for theaters and films. The album Vzduchoprázdniny was awarded the Anděl music prize. The image of his current form is presented by the album Alba a bonusy from 2018.

Even health complications have not taken away his desire to continue creating and performing. He is accompanied at concerts by guitarist Petr Fiala, with whom he shares not only a human connection but mainly a musical understanding. Plíhal himself has enriched his songs with the playing of another string instrument – the mandolin. It is tuned a fifth lower and complements the guitar excellently. Karel Plíhal is constantly working on new songs, which he will bring to Slovakia along with his best.
