HoryZonty: vertikálny špeciál

Film screening associated with a discussion on the theme "Verticals of Dreams"

The continuation of the screening of the most successful films of the 20th edition of the HoryZonty festival dedicated to overcoming elevation, not just in the mountains. The program will include a discussion with tower runner Kamila Chomaničová – one of the top world stair climbers and also the record holder of the Carrier's Dream – a competition in carrying a porter’s basket up the Farské stairs.

Guest of the evening: Kamila Chomaničová 

Kamila Chomaničová is among the world elite in the extreme sport discipline of tower running – stair climbing. She is the 2022 World Cup champion, a 9-time Slovak champion, and an elite competitor who has raced up the stairs of iconic global buildings such as the Empire State Building, Eiffel Tower, Shanghai Tower, and Taipei 101. In the prestigious race at the Empire State Building, she secured third place in 2025.

Kamila has been close to sports since childhood. She has explored several disciplines before fully immersing herself in stair climbing, where she found a connection of strength, endurance, and mental resilience. 

She studied pharmacy at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Comenius University. During her doctoral studies, she spent one semester in Barcelona at an accredited anti-doping laboratory, where she gained practical experience in anti-doping analysis and research. She works at the Anti-Doping Agency of the Slovak Republic as an education manager and also acts as an international doping commissioner – participating in the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.

Her competitive spirit and willingness to tackle unconventional challenges also link her to the HoryZonty festival. Kamila is a three-time champion and record holder of the Carrier's Dream, a competition in carrying a porter’s basket, organized as part of the festival's accompanying events.

Although Kamila specializes in races in the world's tallest buildings, there are many commonalities with outdoor sports. These include not only vertical lines but also the joy of movement, endurance, mental and physical resilience, a desire to surpass one's limits, improve, compete, and pursue one's dreams.

And the paths to dreams are varied. Some even lead up the stairs. :)

An adventure about a 100-mile challenge of Eva Mareková and Branislav Fil in the Strážov mountains that tests their strength, friendship, and determination. Eva achieves her record time on the challenging route.
