Film screening combined with a discussion on the theme “Trenčín – City of Waves: Surfing Without the Ocean”

Selection of films from the XX. edition of the HoryZonty Adventure Film Festival related to water adventures. The screening will be accompanied by a discussion with surfer Peter Ďuriš about surfing not only on ocean waves but also about what the Váh River has to offer.

Guest of the evening:

Peter Ďuriš | Trenčín – City of Waves: Surfing Without the Ocean

Under the Beckov rock, exceptional people have grown up, and Peter Ďuriš is one of them. He studied construction, founded the international company Kickresume, and works professionally in IT, but he feels most comfortable in an environment where he can move, create, and try new things. He feels at home by the water, whether it's the ocean or the river under his hometown Beckov.

Peter Ďuriš is the type of person who connects people in the mountains, on the waves, but also at home on the Váh, where he has been shaping a community around a small local beach for years. After knee surgery and having a knee implant, most would choose a calmer lifestyle, but Peter did the exact opposite. That's when he began activities that usually evoke respect: surfing, freeriding, diving, ski touring. This journey eventually led him to 30-meter waves in Nazaré, Portugal, where he surfed alongside world legend Kai Lenny.

Today he shows that even landlocked people can surf as naturally as those by the ocean and that an active life or traveling with children does not have to be a compromise.

In the discussion, Peter will also share how new opportunities and technological innovations – from artificial intelligence to artificial waves – are changing the world of surfing. He will also open the topic of the potential of the Váh River in Trenčín and explain what can arise when a vibrant sports community and functional support system develop around water.
