Film Screening Combined with a Discussion

Continuation of the film screenings at the HoryZonty festival. You can look forward to a discussion with Trenčín cyclist Stan Chorvát, along with three high-quality biker films. Come get inspired – we're going to have a great time!

Guest of the Evening:

Stano Chorvát

Stano Chorvát is a cyclist from Trenčín, whom you can regularly spot in the early hours wandering the mountains and roads of the Trenčín region. Stano has been biking for about 15 years. He is particularly enchanted by mountain biking and, in recent years, gravel biking as well. You can often find him in the Považský Inovec mountain range. Occasionally, he'll participate in a marathon, but he doesn't strictly follow a training plan. Whenever he goes to a race, he always takes the longest route they offer. This is his principle, which he has yet to break.

He enjoys long rides, which taste best at the end. He has participated several times in the legendary races in Spiš, including the Spiš 333 EXTREME, as well as the popular Czech ultramarathon 400 Ultra. For many years, he worked manually in a construction company, where he "fortunately" hurt his back, which forced him to leave the stability behind and try doing what he loves and what he does best. Thanks to his work at Cykloshop.sk, he is now fulfilling his dreams, testing gear, bikes, and also advising people on choosing their dream bike or professional equipment. Through his work, he is also documenting his greatest cycling experiences on YouTube and will share his experiences and views on cycling with us.

Film Screenings:

Flow

Directed by: Andy McCandlish / UK / 2023 / 11 minutes /

Flow follows two brothers from Dyfi Valley in central Wales, who are quickly making a name for themselves in the British MTB scene. Along with their mother, they reveal their strong family story and journey from their first rides to racing. The film portrays mountain biking as a path to balance, freedom, and self-discovery. Autism is not a limitation here but a unique way of perceiving the world that gives riding a new dimension.

The film won the Best Short Film Award at the HoryZonty 2025 festival.

The Patagonia of Asia

Directed by: Gerhard Czerner / GER / 2025 / 24 minutes /

In the remote southwest of Kyrgyzstan, in the mountains near the border with Tajikistan, a trio of adventurers sets out to a region that almost no one steps foot in. With local guides and animals, they traverse wild valleys, push their bikes through snowstorms, and sleep in shepherds' huts in the middle of nowhere. Every kilometer in this rugged natural paradise, visited by few, is uncertain, challenging, and pioneering. After seven days, they return exhausted but with unique footage and a story of true adventure.

Trailblazing: The Matt Hadley Story

Directed by: Kim Logan / CAN / 2025 / 27 minutes /

After an accident that turns his life upside down, elite athlete Matt Hadley faces the toughest challenge of his career and identity. As a person with a disability, he embarks on a powerful journey to rediscover adventure, meaning, and new possibilities. This award-winning film tells a story of courage, perseverance, unwavering will, and creativity. It shows that the greatest adventures happen within us.

The film won the Best Outdoor Film Award at the HoryZonty 2025 festival.

We look forward to a wonderful evening together!
