December brings several significant international days – one of them is December 3rd, when we commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (UN).

This day was declared by the United Nations to raise awareness of the life challenges, needs, and rights of persons with disabilities and to promote the creation of dignified conditions for their daily lives.

The city of Hlohovec is also marking this theme this year by organizing the Day Without Barriers – an event that invites us to slow down, reflect, and gain a better understanding of the world of people with disabilities. It is aimed at the general public – all age groups of those with disabilities, professionals, families, and everyone who resonates with this topic.

This year, we have prepared a selection of films with powerful stories about the lives of people with disabilities. You will be able to see the films during the first two weeks of December at Cinema Úsmev.

The city library will also prepare a thematic selection of books depicting the lives of people with disabilities.
