December brings several significant international days – one of them is December 3rd, when we commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (UN).

This day was declared by the United Nations to raise awareness of the challenges, needs, and rights of persons with disabilities and to promote the creation of dignified conditions for their daily lives.

The city of Hlohovec is also commemorating this topic this year by organizing the Day Without Barriers – an event that invites us to slow down, reflect, and better understand the world of people with disabilities. It is intended for the general public – all age groups of persons with disabilities, professionals, families, and anyone who is touched by this theme.

This year we have prepared a selection of films with powerful stories about the lives of people with disabilities. You will be able to see the films during the first two weeks of December at the Úsmev Cinema.

The municipal library will also prepare a themed selection of books that depict the lives of people with disabilities.
