December brings several significant international days – one of them is December 3rd, when we commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (UN).

This day was declared by the United Nations to raise awareness about the life challenges, needs, and rights of people with disabilities and to promote the creation of dignified conditions for their daily lives.

The city of Hlohovec also acknowledges this theme this year by organizing a Barrier-Free Day – an event that invites us to slow down, reflect, and better understand the world of people with disabilities. It is intended for the general public – for all age groups of disabled individuals, professionals, families, and everyone interested in this topic.

This year, we have prepared a selection of films with powerful stories about the lives of people with disabilities. You can watch the films during the first two weeks of December at the Úsmev Cinema.
