December brings several significant international days – one of them is December 3rd, when we commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (UN).

This day was declared by the United Nations to highlight the life challenges, needs, and rights of persons with disabilities and to promote the creation of dignified conditions for their everyday lives.

The city of Hlohovec is also remembering this topic this year by organizing the Day Without Barriers – an event that invites us to slow down, reflect, and better understand the world of people with disabilities. It is aimed at a wide audience – all age groups of people with disabilities, professionals, families, and everyone who is touched by this topic.

This year, we have prepared a selection of films with strong stories about the lives of people with disabilities. You will be able to see the films during the first two weeks of December at the Úsmev Cinema.

The City Library will also prepare a themed offer of books that depict the lives of people with disabilities.
