December brings several significant international days – one of them is December 3rd, when we commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (UN).

This day was declared by the United Nations to raise awareness about the challenges, needs, and rights of people with disabilities and to support the creation of dignified conditions for their daily lives.

The city of Hlohovec is also remembering this theme this year by organizing the Day Without Barriers – an event that invites us to slow down, reflect, and better understand the world of people with disabilities. It is aimed at the general public – all age groups of people with disabilities, professionals, families, and everyone who is touched by this topic.

This year, we have prepared a selection of films with powerful stories about the lives of people with disabilities. You can watch the films during the first two weeks of December at the Cinema Úsmev.

The City Library will also prepare a themed selection of books that depict the lives of people with disabilities.
