The City Theatre of Trenčín presents the play "The Servant of Two Masters" by Carlo Goldoni, performed by the J. Palárik Theatre in Trnava.
The Servant of Two Masters is one of the most popular and successful plays performed by theatres around the world. This play offers an exceptional role for masters of acting – the main character, the servant Truffaldino, who dares to take on anything. He tackles every situation and problem in an original and, above all, humorous way. However, the author does not deprive the other characters of richness either. Although the play addresses serious matters of love and even life, it is dominated by a series of comedic exchanges, misunderstandings, and mix-ups.
The plot revolves around the engagement of the lovers Clarice and Silvio. The cunning servant Truffaldino helps (and sometimes hinders) them. Driven by a perpetual hunger, he orchestrates a comedy full of unexpected twists, trying to navigate through unforeseen complications to reach a happy ending. He is surrounded by traditional figures from Renaissance improvisational comedy – the worried father Pantalone, the know-it-all doctor Lombardi, their besotted children, mysterious foreigners, a cheeky innkeeper, and a flirtatious maid.
In addition to a plethora of entertaining characters and situations, the audience can look forward to a live musical accompaniment by our actors. The beloved comedian Peter Trník will take on the role of the servant Truffaldino.
