Based on Eberhard Streul's props revue, Lajos Parti Nagy wrote a Hungarian play about a prop master’s big moment from a theatrical evening.

After the performance, József Bieder goes about his business, packing up on the empty stage, and when he looks up, he finds himself facing a full house. At first, he is startled, unsure how to navigate this unusual, almost surreal situation, but ultimately he is glorified. This former supporting actor, this eternal background figure, begins to tell stories about his life, which is the theater, and about the theater, which is his life. Perhaps not his first, but undoubtedly his last “performance,” he enchants and entertains everyone he sees in the audience, mobilizing all his abilities, experiences, and imagination. All the solo acts, all the productions, of course, are about him. The crying, the laughter, the entire evening is brought to life by András Kern’s performance, directed by Ilan Eldad – the director of Six Weeks, Six Dances and Life as It Is.

A joint production of the Vígszínház and Orlai Production Office.
